The Guidance Services Office is committed to provide meaningful experiences needed for life-long learning that will enhance affective, cognitive, and social skills of the National University students.

Our Vision

The Guidance Services Office strives to promote the development of a well-rounded personality – including the mental and emotional wellbeing – necessary to become responsible and well-functioning individuals.

Is responsible for the effective and efficient implementation of the University's Guidance and Counseling Services. Specifically, it aims to: Help students, through their own effort as much as possible, achieve their full potential, gain personal satisfaction, and contribute meaningfully to society. Assist students in addressing their challenges as they arise and in maintaining a well-balanced life in all aspects. Support faculty and non-teaching personnel in understanding students by responding to their referrals. Encourage students to explore and understand the depth of their personal experiences, recognize available opportunities, make informed choices, and act upon their strengths and resources. The Guidance Services Office is a space where students' emotional, mental, academic, and career wellness are supported. It is a place where every student is valued, heard, and guided.

SmartChat (Counseling)

Smart Chat is a therapeutic process that promotes open communication to support students' growth and development. It helps them reorganize their thoughts, feelings, and emotions through self‐realization and awareness, guided by routine interviews and counseling. This dynamic interpersonal approach empowers students to overcome obstacles and foster personal growth.

Student Development Program (SDEP)

Provides learning opportunities through seminars and the Student Module for Interactive Learning Experience. These activities help students apply practical skills in daily life while promoting self‐awareness and understanding through sharing, self‐expression, and group interaction.

Seminars and webinars are offered to students based on topics identified through the Needs Assessment Survey conducted at the start of each academic year.

Student Module for Interactive Learning Experience (SMILE)

Guidance Group sessions provide students with practical learning experiences they can apply in everyday life.

Student Wellness Assessment Program (SWAP)

The Guidance Services Office conducts assessments to understand students' individual characteristics and attributes through the administration, scoring, and interpretation of standardized tests.

Disseminating Relevant Information

To students through bulletin board, social media posting, brochures, email blasts, and other information services for the purpose of spreading awareness and psychoeducation or updating students of upcoming activities of the office.

GSO Support Groups

The Guidance Services Office supports various special student populations by providing activities tailored to their needs. Through Support Group Management, the office fosters rapport and builds a strong support system among students, including peer facilitators, students from non-traditional families, student-athletes, LGBTQIA+ members, scholars, working students, and others. The following are the support groups under the Guidance Services Office:

Description
NU Peer Facilitators (NU Peers)

A Recognized Student Organization (RSO) under the Guidance Services Office that advocates for Mental Health. It exists to facilitate the growth of students' emotional and psychological well-being through various projects and activities.

NU Sexuality and Gender Alliance (NU SAGA)

A Recognized Student Organization that supports and uplifts the LGBTQIA+ Community in the institution. NU SAGA aims to stand for their rights, amplify their voices while creating safe spaces to have an inclusive, genderless and friendly Nationalian community.

NU Power Wellness for Rising Student-Athletes (NU PWERSA)

A Support Group (Probationary RSO) that commits to provide assistance to student athletes through different activities targeting their personal, academic, and mental health concerns so they can be well-rounded individuals.

NU Holistic Opportunities for Personal Enhancement (NU HOPE)

A Support Group under NU Peers that aims to provide assistance to the Nationalians who are in need, especially when it comes to their mental health. It is a support group that centers on the ideas of healing to promote openness, self-empowerment, encouragement, and holistic opportunities.

NU Interactive Leadership Enhancement Advocacy Program (NU i-Lead)

A Support group under the National University Guidance Services Office. The main objectives are to identify and train students with leadership interest and potential to be the next University leaders and of their respective communities.

NU Guild of Empowered Individuals for Non-Traditional Families (NU Lingap)

A Support group that aims to cater, support, and empower Nationalian students who belong from non-traditional families. In providing them opportunities to build camaraderie and belongingness, it is believed that they can foster a welcoming environment, empower students, and address the underlying concern of students about their experiences, specifically in the family systems.
